my new table!

this table was yesterday's impulse buy with Lu when we were searching for a dress for her event. We didn't find a dress (she borrowed one of mine) but we did find me the best table ever! i'm debating if I'll put it in my long entrance hallway as a bench (since its terribly empty right now) or if i'll keep it as a coffee table. either way, i love it!

my new table

its a beautiful day out and I just got back from three hours of random wandering around the city ending with shopping in the market (mmm basil, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella) and loading up on flowers (calla lillies and irises)

Things to do before my mom visits

Must-do's:

  1. Clean the guest room
  2. Paint my bathroom
  3. Change out sink and tub fixtures for my bathroom *
  4. Change out the hardware on my bathroom cupboards *
  5. Get new lights for my bathroom *
  6. Get new hallway wall sconces *

Stretch goal:

  1. Tile the backsplash of my kitchen *

* - indicates I have no idea how to do any of these things, so any advice (ahem, charlie) would be greatly appreciated.

Ok - looks like my build was finally successful, I suppose I should get to fixing some bugs.

sunrise lamps

So i've blogged about this before, but clearly i never took any action on it since I'm blogging about it again. It's on my mind because I woke up this morning completely disoriented as to what time it was.

I've always had a problem waking up in the morning (I set two alarm clocks because I tend to snooze repeatedly), but I find that in my new condo, where my bedroom doesn't have any windows, its hard to tell what time it is when I wake up in the morning. I suppose maybe getting a real clock in my bedroom might also help, but I think the biggest thing is the lack of light in the winter when I wake up.

There are a couple different models out there, but they're all so ugly, I don't think I can deal with having two of these nasty looking lamps as my bedside lamps, so I might get just a timer instead and probably get new bedside lamps to work with it.

I'll add it to my list of 'things to do' before my mom visits at the end of november.

My new condo (pt 2)

Ok, so after going to the hideout last night, I was in no condition to clean my condo and/or take pictures of it. Somehow Erik procured a laser/light gun at around midnight. Where he got that? I dont know, I suppose I wasn't paying attention.

Anyway, Justin and Vy came over earlier tonight and totally schooled me at Scrabble. I was the only one without a Bingo!!! :(

At any rate, I mostly cleaned so you can check out the rest of my condo in the photo album. It's hard to get the right lighting (due to all the lights and the gloss of the paint and my general inability to take good photos) and it's not totally karen-ified yet, I swear at some point I'll put up those panels in the second bedroom (aka really big storage area)

My new condo

Ok, well that's a bit of a stretch to say its "new" considering I've been there for almost 3 months now.

I'm finally posting some pictures of the areas that aren't a complete mess - the hallways! :) I should have taken some pictures on Sunday when my place was clean before the thanksgiving dinner. Oh well. Justin is coming over tomorrow, so I'm motivated to clean it tonight and maybe I'll post more pictures.

My very first hammer

I can't believe i have to allocate closet space to tools instead of shoes.

And no, charlie, i do not need a measuring tape!

(ps. Thanks home depot was fun. Not as fun as getting new jeans, but fun)
