names gone wild and the abacus hits the clubs of toronto

Lu's LuBQ was a success and a hoot - there's nothing like shish kababs and pizza on the grill followed by Mel's 'home made' shortcake. Poor Bill was the only boy there and had to endure our conversations about bra sizes and our ridiculous text off (the 'off' is the new activity for the summer) - a.do how many times does the word 'beverage' appear in this sentence? Nothing beats the serious name confusion we had going on that night.

a.do: sobias? isnt that the guy from Da Vinci Code?
lisa: uh, that's Sylas, and his name is Tobias.
a.do: right. orphelia, aurelia, they both start with "O"

Mel: Samir? Salim? Which one is your bf again?
Mel: So wait, Samir? Or was that Salim?

Afterwards we headed off to Blvd room to meet up with the rest of the girls (Ingi, Mits, Burps and their friends) for a bit and then ended up at Easy, which is so lame because even i remember that place and i haven't lived in toronto for like 4 yrs). We were not so much into the nasty ass men there, but we did discover an abacus. Yes, an abacus. We made up a new dance which kept us entertained for the rest of the evening. We are so immature. We headed home soon after that and waited at home for Melly and Tami to get back (also known as read people magazine and ate pizza). How I miss my girls!! I think i'm going to come back a broke fatty (because I went shopping with Jess and Rene and then the rest of the girls joined and all i do is eat and sleep other than that) but its all worth it. I miss toronto!

home is just what i needed

after a extremely stressful month of lots of downs and negligible ups, i'm so happy to be home in toronto. i think i've been smiling all day, which is something i haven't done in a long long time.

i got in yesterday - daniel's texts kept me entertained while waiting for my flight, paul kept me company on the plane and gave me tissues, ingi picked me up at the airport and it was like old times driving on the 401 (except that she was driving, we weren't in a van and we were headed east), luen shared turtle/fudge stuff while we kept her company while her porn/surveillance camera was being installed, my mommy cooked me dinner, and i spent the rest of the evening too lazy to go out and talked on the phone with friends.

i spent the majority of today with bryant, one of my friends from grade 4, eating lunch, running errands and being as 'optimal' as we possibly could be. my home town has changed so much since i left and even bry (who also moved out of the city) doesn't remember his way around either.

anyway, i'm off to meet up with heung, and hopefully I'll find craiggie (proxy bf), and sterls/etch; yay! so happy to be home.

turkey and sushi, here i come!

back in toronto...again

in toronto again...for another wedding of course...third trip to toronto so far this summer :)

anyway, congrats to Kevin and Le - i had a great time at the wedding despite being DD, watching Lawrence and jeff on the dance floor was priceless, especially when mark was trying to throw grapes into jeff's open mouth. The pressure is now on my brother and lawrence - thank god, because there's nothing worse than a swarm of chinese mothers nagging you about when you're going to get married.

here's a couple pics from the wedding - thats my bro with the facial hair. i'm trying to convince him to shave it because i dont think the fumanchu (sp?) look is becoming.

And I can say that, because I'm his sister.

And he can ignore me, because he's my brother.

more pics from jess and rene's wedding

Stole these from lisa's yahoo photos site. BOO yahoo. tee hee!

check out some more photos from Jess and Rene's wedding.

last day in TO

After more badass chinese food with my mom and a trip to the asian mall where mr. chair was floored at the blatant illegal DVD store, we headed downtown to Toronto island to watch Dragonboat. It was a fabulous day to be outside!

Later that evening, i had a great time on sunday night with my girls - Ingi, Lu, Burps and Mitty...oh yeah and mr. chair. Unfortunately none of the other boyfriends could make it so he ended up being the only guy at a table of giggly girls. tee hee. I can't believe that Mitty is getting married! OMG!

anyway, we had dinner at il fornello with the bitchiest server ever! EVER! and then headed over to Lago to get some drinks and dessert. Lu got mad at the end of the night and broke a glass. Seriously Lu, you need to do something about that anger problem you have!

awww, i miss toronto now that i'm back on the west coast.

congratulations jess and rene

its about time! after over 10 years of dating, Jess and Rene finally tied the knot. I couldn't be happier for them.

the wedding was awesome - except for the part where it was like a million degrees outside and our pretty bridesmaid dresses turned into ovens.

more about this later - here's some pics - unfortunately there aren't any good ones to post of jess and rene as I had a shoddy photographer (slave #2), but I know that Lisa has better pics (slave #1 is better) so I'll post those when she sends them to me.

i gotta run to the airport, I'm off to LA before heading back to Seattle.

the longest day of the year

yesterday was the longest day of the year...literally...weather in Toronto was awesome (despite eric's claims of rain) and it didn't get dark until like 9ish...

Spent the day at ms canada playing Luen's little intern and being constantly distracted by the 'autoadjusting lighting system' in the office...lunch time catch up on all the stuff going on in our lives (are we dating the same person? seems like it sometimes).

After work, we headed down town for some sushi with some of the wu-crew at i (heart) sushi then to fez batik for some drinks out on their (very dead) patio. Its always fun to get together with friends...though reminiscing makes me feel old! Oh scibus, if only we listened to Richardson (the sweating liver) we'd all be rich. I feel so old, everyone is buying condos and stuff - oh back in the day when we all used to live together in slum housing in Waterloo. Now we're all grown up and snatching up over priced lofts around town.

eep.

thug passion

a.k.a. the theme of jess' bachelorette. (just kidding). (J: "Hey Mr. Fireman, can I slide down your pole?") hahaha. The bachelorette was super fun - Royal York for the princesses, then to Leoni's where our waiter put on Jess' floral coconut bra and veil...then to devil's martini and up then back to the Royal york for some street meat. Holy high school reunion, we saw so many people from high school out last night! Other than Two Babes and a bus completely not having it together and basically sucking (I'll be writing some stern letters and making some bitchy calls on Monday), we had a good time. Doritos at 3:30? ok!

Anyway, in case you haven't guessed, I'm back in the T-dot for Jess' wedding next saturday - got in on friday night and after some badass chinese food with my mom (100x better than seattle chinese food), I headed over to Jess' place to help out with the photo slideshow thing and try on my bridesmaid dress that Jess' mom had made. I tried on the dress and it fit, except for at the chest where you could literally throw oranges down the front. Jess' mom was baffled - how could she have measured SO off? Turns out she had given me the wrong dress (victoria's). Oops! My dress just needed to be taken in a little more (where else?) but otherwise was a perfect fit.

Anyway, i'm off to search for some silver shoes. Later skaters.

tdot!

I'm so excited, I'm going to be in Toronto soon for my best friend Jess' wedding - the first of my close circle of friends to get married. eep!

Anyway, here are some pics from my last trip in may to TO from Burps - wu-crew at c-lounge. i love how the drinks match me and mel's shirts. oh and lu, your pepcid doesn't look like it was working in this picture :)

i'm home!

whee! i'm home! yay for toronto :)

nothing has changed...my mom picked me up from the airport and the first thing she did was covet my pradas. sheesh.

craiggie sent me this: Morse code trumps SMS. And here I was thinking I was all fast and stuff.

I'm coming home to the t-dot!

You can't believe how excited I am  I'm coming home to Toronto!

May 7th to May 9th. (I know, I know, its way too short)

Yay! Let's play!

yay for shopping! (part one)

despite the ridiculous crowds, we never seem to learn our lesson and go shopping at eaton centre - it's tradition i guess for me lisa and eileen. it was like minus a gazillion outside and snowing and we ran from the parking lot to the mall with no jackets. we are hardcore like that - hello, jackets just weigh you down and make you hot. two hands for shopping, ahem!

anyway, i didn't get too much stuff, i mean it was all on sale, so it's ok - right? :)

after the mobs at eaton centre, we decided to go over to queen street west for some boutique-y stuff. Uhm, outdoor shopping on a minus trajillion day REALLY sucks. By the end of it, I couldn't feel my toes or my nose. I used to be able to handle this kind of weather, but I guess i've gone soft. :S

anyway, off to stuff my face again with my grand aunt and uncle. I swear, I need some serious diet action when I get back. Shopping part deux (+ swiss chalet action) with the wu-crew girls is on the 28th yay!

turkey and sushi

so there are a couple things i look forward to every year at christmas:

1. seeing all my friends from elementary school/highschool/university and seeing my family
2. shopping
3. eating

Eating can be broken down into three major eating events:

i. Turkey and sushi at my godparents house
ii. swiss chalet with the girls
iii. girlie girl stuff your face fest. (aka, lets eat shrimp cocktail and sammy's clam dip until we get sick)

Tonight was turkey (and roast as well) and sushi at my godparents' place. Its sort of a holiday tradition for the bunch of us to eat mass amounts of sushi and sashimi for our holiday meals. It's a little odd I suppose, but I love it! Its always fun to see my god fam, because I really dont remember a time when they weren't around - our families basically grew up together. We always have so many funny stories from when we were kids. :)

Anyway, its almost midnight...so Merry Christmas!!! :)

Here's my fam and my godfam

home sweet (snowy freezing) home

I'm now back in the T.dot after a horrible flight - it was over an hour and a half late taking off, and there must have been 6 or 7 screaming babies. I also got stuck in the window seat beside the most obnoxious couple - from what I could gather, he knocked her up, and they were going to Canada to meet his parents. She spent the first half of the plane ride conjugating verbs. Girlfriend, just because you can conjugate 'vouloir' doesn't mean his french canadian parents are going to be impressed that you've got a bun in the oven and no ring on your hand.

anyway, i'm glad to be home, especially since i'm still pretty sick. It's one of the things I miss the most when i'm in Seattle, having this endless supply of comfort food without having to make it myself! Homemade chicken soup (chinese style), congee, not to mention a totally stocked fridge! The only thing that kinda sucks is that we don't have a dishwasher. (Yes, my life is just SO HARD i have to wash dishes by hand - ha ha). But hey, I made it through 18 yrs without one I suppose I could deal with it for the week. Oh, and that my mom's computer wasn't working properly and I just spent the last couple hours fixing it. That's the downfall of coming home earlier than my brother - whoever comes home first gets to be tech support.

ok, time to stop being lazy and make some phone calls...
